Hundreds of advocates take to the Hill Nearly 300 Komen advocates from across the country rallied in Washington, D.C. in June to meet with Congress about comprehensive legislation that will reinvigorate the war on cancer. Activist and actor Ricardo Chavira, from the television show Desperate Housewives, joined us in kicking off our annual Lobby Day on the Capitol steps.
Miles help make a difference We have received more than $600,000 in donations from the American Airlines Miles for the Cure campaign. Based on the tremendous success of the program, American Airlines recently announced that it will continue Miles for the Cure until $1 million is raised for Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.
Targeted therapy improves survival of some patients In a study recently presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology annual meeting, researchers found that women with HER2-positive advanced breast cancer, who had been previously treated with Herceptin®, showed improved progression-free survival when treated with both Herceptin and Tykerb®. How does this compare with Tykerb alone?
