GENERAL

Q: What is Passionately Pink®?

A: Susan G. Komen Passionately Pink is a personal fundraising booster!  People who register on the Passionately Pink website receive a fundraising webpage, posters, breast health information and much more – all geared toward enhancing fundraising efforts.

It’s easy to register – just go to www.passionatelypink.org and click on the “Register” tab at the top left of the screen.

Q: Who participates in Passionately Pink?

A:  Anyone can go Passionately Pink!  We’ve seen Passionately Pink activities at offices and schools, in homes and community centers, even outdoors.

We just ask that Passionately Pink donations be voluntary – not predicated on the sale or purchase of commercial goods or services.

Q: When can I go Passionately Pink?

A: You can go Passionately Pink any time of the year – pick a day, a week, a month…  Whatever works best for you.

Q: Who do I contact if I have questions?

A: If you have questions about Passionately Pink you can always call us at 1-877 GO KOMEN (1-877-465-6636) x2202, or send an e-mail to passionatelypink@komen.org.

REGISTRATION

Q: Do I need to register every year?

A: Yes, we do require registration each year, even if you’ve gone Passionately Pink before. Every Spring we update our materials, and to be good stewards of our resources we want to ensure these new materials get mailed out to the people who truly want them.

If you need to re-register, it takes just a few minutes.  Go to www.passionatelypink.org, click on the “Register” tab at the top left of the screen, and when prompted indicate you are a returning registrant.  Your contact information will be automatically filled in to help save you some time.

Q: How do I change my contact information once I’ve registered?

A: To change your contact information, event date, or any other information, please send an e-mail to passionatelypink@komen.org and be sure to reference your 7- or 8-digit event ID number.

Q: Is there a registration fee?

A: There is no registration fee to participate in Passionately Pink.  However, please be aware that it takes about two weeks for kits to arrive.  To keep our program costs low so that more money can go to our mission, we are unable to rush ship kits.

DONATIONS

Q: How will Passionately Pink funds raised be used?

A: Susan G. Komen® is extremely proud of the financial stewardship we offer for the donations our supporters give. We are accredited by the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance.

Passionately Pink donations help support Komen’s breast cancer research initiatives, and just as importantly Passionately Pink donations are shared with our network of local Affiliates to help provide life-saving education, screening and treatment programs at the community level.

We look at the zip code where the donation originates, and share the donation with the Komen Affiliate that services that area.  If the donation comes from a zip code that isn’t serviced by a Komen Affiliate, then the entire donation supports Komen’s research grant program.

Q: Will I receive a tax receipt for my donation?

A: Susan G. Komen issues receipts for any donation of $10 or more received through the mail by Susan G. Komen. Receipts should arrive by mail approximately four to six weeks from the date it was deposited.

All online donations using credit or debit cards receive immediate acknowledgement.

If your donation is in cash form, you may not get a tax receipt.  To ensure you receive a tax receipt, please donate with a credit/debit card on the Passionately Pink website, or write a check to “Susan G. Komen”.

Donation reply forms, including the Passionately Pink mailing address, are available to download from the Passionately Pink website.  Don’t forget to include your 7-digit or 8-digit event ID number!

Q: Is my donation tax-deductible?

A: Contributions to Susan G. Komen may be tax-deductible to the fullest extent permissible by law. Please consult your tax advisor for more information.

Q: If a business donates items (like food or auction items) for my Passionately Pink event, can I get a tax receipt for that donation?

A: Susan G. Komen can only provide tax receipts for items donated directly to Komen.  Unless your Passionately Pink event is a registered non-profit organization, items donated for the event cannot receive a tax receipt from Komen.

Q: What do I do with the donations I collect from my Passionately Pink activities?

A: First, ensure that all checks are made out to “Susan G. Komen” and reference your 7- or 8-digit event ID number.  If you want these donations reflected on the fundraising thermometer on your Passionately Pink webpage, log in to your Event Center and report these gifts on the Progress Page.

Please do not send cash - convert any cash donations to a check or money order.

Then, mail the donations to Susan G. Komen, P.O. Box 5027, Hagerstown, MD 21741. Please use regular mail -- we use a P.O. Box and cannot accept FedEx or other express delivery services.

Be sure to mark your donations for Passionately Pink and include your 7- or 8-digit event ID on all checks.

A donation reply form can also be downloaded from the Passionately Pink website.

Q: When are the donations due?

A: We encourage event coordinators to send in their donations as soon as donations are collected, but donations may be sent in at any time throughout the year.

Q: Can donations be made online?

A: We encourage online donations! Donors can click Give to an Event on the Passionately Pink website to find a specific team's fundraising page, or to make a general Passionately Pink donation.

Online credit/debit card transactions are secure, and online donors receive immediate electronic acknowledgements.

Q: How do I know if Komen has received mailed donations?

A: Komen sends gift acknowledgements/tax receipts to the name/address as it appears on the donation check/money order.  Donors should receive these acknowledgements through the mail 4-6 weeks after the check has been deposited.

If you are a team Captain and want to know if we have received your team’s donations, please send an email to passionatelypink@komen.org.

Q: How should checks be made out?

A: Please make checks payable to “Susan G. Komen” and include your 7- or 8-digit event ID number on all checks. Checks should be accompanied by a completed Donation Reply Form (available for download at www.passionatelypink.org) and mailed to:  Susan G. Komen, PO Box 5027, Hagerstown, MD  21741.

Q: How do I keep track of the individual donations I’ve received for Passionately Pink?

A: We strongly recommend that all Passionately Pink team captains keep records of the individual donations they receive, and enter them on their fundraising webpage through the Progress page in the online Team Center.

Q: Can my gift be matched?

A: Many companies offer matching gift programs for charitable donations, and each matching gift program is different.  Ask your HR department if your company has a matching gift program, then ask if Susan G. Komen is eligible for your company’s program.  If both answers are yes, then your HR department should be able to provide you with the necessary forms and instructions.

Q: Do I need a W-9 form, 501(c) (3) form or additional paperwork to complete my donation?

A: If you need additional information in order to make a donation to Susan G. Komen, please e-mail us at passionatelypink@komen.org.

WEBSITE

Q: What is my event ID number and why is it so important?

A: Every Passionately Pink Event Coordinator is assigned a 7- or 8-digit team ID number at the time of registration.  It also appears on the even'ts Passionately Pink fundraising webpage, and helps us ensure your event’s donations are tracked accurately.  If you go Passionately Pink each year, this number stays the same each year so we can track your donations over time.

If you forgot your event ID number and cannot find your Passionately Pink webpage, please call 1-877 GO KOMEN (1-877-465-6636) x2202 or send an email to passionatelypink@komen.org.

Q: How do I update my online fundraising thermometer to reflect current donations?

A: Online credit/debit cards donations through your Passionately Pink webpage are automatically reflected on your fundraising thermometer.  However, Event Coordinators must manually enter cash or check donations to be reflected on the thermometer.

To record cash/check donations on your fundraising thermometer, go to www.passionatelypink.org and log in to your Event Center.  Click on the Progress Page and click on “Enter a New Gift.” You can enter the dollar amount only, or include the donors’ names.

Q: Can other people join my Passionately Pink event and have their own fundraising webpages?

A: Passionately Pink does not offer a “join my team” function, simliar to a Race for the Cure® or Marathon for the Cure® event. If others want to support your event, you can update the text of your Passionately Pink webpage to acknowledge them.  If others want to fundraise on their own, they can register for their own event and receive all the online and printed support that Passionately Pink offers.
