Event Day Schedule

We look forward to coming together to walk to end breast cancer with you on Saturday, September 28, 2024! 

9:30 am - 11:00 am | Check-in & Morning Festival

    • Komen will pay the Zoo entrance fees for all Registered Walk Participants. Please register ALL walkers (anyone 2 years and older) in advance of walk day.
    • Check-in at Komen’s exclusive entrance at the Bear Parking Lot.
    • Komen’s entrance will close promptly at 11:00 am. Nobody will be allowed to enter after.
    • Once inside the zoo, gather in the North Meadow and enjoy information booths, family friendly activities and connect with the breast cancer community.
    • Anyone who has ever received a breast cancer diagnosis is invited to enter Hope Village to enjoy a small continental breakfast and pick up a goody bag.
    • While in Hope Village make sure you grab a postcard on ShareForCures, Komen’s breast cancer research registry focused on finding the cures for breast cancer. Learn how you can accelerate discoveries, make an impact, and be a catalyst for change!
    • Top Fundraising Teams (teams who raise $2,500+) will be treated to gathering places within the North Meadow. Check in with your team captain for more details.

11:00 am | Stage Program Begins

    • Honor survivors, those currently in treatment and those living with metastatic breast cancer as they walk down the Parade of Hope; celebrate our top fundraisers; and listen to inspiring stories of resilience.
    • There will be 100 folding chairs available for use on a first come-first served basis.
    • Everyone is invited to bring a blanket and find a seat on the lawn.

11:20 am | Survivor & MBC Thriver Photo + Parade of Hope

    • Anyone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer is invited to gather in front of the stage, following our programming, we will have our event photographer take a group photo and then YOU will lead the Parade of Hope for all our 2024 participants out of the North Meadow and to the Carousel as a beautiful cap to our event day together.

11:30 am | Survivor + MBC Thriver Carousel Ride

    • The Woodland Park Zoo has generously donated a Carousel Ride to all who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. This ride will take place immediately following the stage program.
    • There will be a “Parade of Hope” that leads our guests out of the North Meadow and to the carousel for this special moment together.

11:45 am | Walk the Zoo

    • Your “walk” for the day is self-guided, with your own friends, family and or teammates. There is no formal walk route. Get your steps in at your own pace.
    • There is no formal marked Start & Finish line. Think of it as “A Day at the Zoo with your Komen Community.”
    • Following the carousel ride you are a zoo guest and may stay as long as you like.

Activities for Survivors & Those Living with MBC

This event is a celebration of the strength and resilience of survivors and all people living with metastatic breast cancer. We honor these members of our community at:

9:30 am – 11:00 am | Hope Village Celebration | North Meadow

Join us in the Hope Village area for a complimentary continental breakfast and pick up your goodie bag filled with donated treats just for you!

11:20 am | Photo + Parade of Hope | Start from the Stage in the North Meadow

All survivors and those living with metastatic breast cancer will be invited to the front of the stage and our event day photographer will capture a group photo. Then, to close our time together, you will walk, united, across the North Meadow, under the Komen arch and into the Carousel area.

11:30 am | Survivor & MBC Thriver Carousel Ride | Carousel at North Meadow

All survivors and those living with MBC are invited to close out our morning festivities with a Survivor and MBC Thriver carousel ride. We can’t wait to share this special moment together.

Your Event T-shirt

All registered breast cancer survivors and those living with metastatic breast cancer will receive a special event shirt to recognize your special place in our event. To guarantee your shirt arrives in time for you to wear it on event morning, you must register by Sunday, September 1, 2024at 11:59 p.m. CT.

Individual Fundraising Prizes
Every person who registers to the MORE THAN PINK Walk will receive a personal fundraising website. Even if you are a member of a team, you are eligible to earn fundraising prizes from donations raised on your personal page.

$100+ | To receive your event shirt in time for Walk day, register, and fundraise $100 by Sunday, August 25, 2024. If you raise $100+ following this date, your shirt will be mailed in the weeks following event day.

$500+ | Register and fundraise $500 by Tuesday, September 3, 2024, and you will receive a personalized mission board to be displayed on event day.

$1,000+ = Individual Top Fundraisers | Fundraise $1,000 by event day, and upon entrance of the zoo you will receive a small gift as our thank you for being an incredible champion of the Komen mission.


Team Fundraising Prizes
Each team member’s individual fundraising rolls up to reflect the team’s collective impact. As a team you are eligible to earn prizes to enjoy on the event day. Your team captain will be notified as soon as you earn this prize and will be given details to share with their team members leading up to the event day.

$2,500 = Top Fundraising Team | Teams that raise $2,500 by Tuesday, September 3, 2024, will have a 6’ table and 6 folding chairs available for their exclusive use on event day.

$5,000+ | Teams that raise $5,000 by Tuesday, September 3, 2024, will have a 10x10 tent, a 6’ table and 10 folding chairs available for their exclusive use on event day.

$10,000+ | Teams that raise $10,000 by Monday, September 16, 2024, will have an animal adopted in the name of their honoree. The Honoree will receive: a Certificate of Adoption, Fun Fact Page, photograph of adoptive animal, window sticker, animal plush, two tickets for a future trip to Woodland Park Zoo and will have their name featured on the 2025 Zoo Parent Recognition Wall.

Local T-Shirt Details

We are now mailing all shirts to $100+ fundraisers, survivors and those living with metastatic breast cancer. In order to receive your shirt in time for Walk day*, you must register and/or fundraise $100+ by Sunday, September 1, 2024. Survivors and those living with metastatic breast cancer who register, and participants who raise $100, after Sunday, September 1, 2024 will receive your shirt(s) by mail after the event. The final cut-off date for participants to raise $100 and receive a shirt is Sunday, October 27, 2024.

Please note there will be no t-shirts available for pick up either pre-event or on event day. Thank you for your commitment to Susan G. Komen and our efforts to simplify our t-shirt process.

*Shirts are being mailed via USPS. As with any shipping provider, delays may occur.

How long is the Walk?

There is NO formal walk route. Following our Survivor and MBC Thriver Carousel Ride, participants are invited to enjoy the Woodland Park Zoo at their own pace, in their own way with their friends, family and teammates. Think of the walk portion of the day as “A Day at the Zoo with the Breas

Getting to the Event and Parking

Komen’s exclusive entrance is at the Bear Lot. Plan to park in the Bear Lot for convenience. You will be responsible for all travel and parking fees associated with participating in the MORE THAN PINK Walk. Visit the zoo website for more directions and rate details: https://www.zoo.org/directions

Are strollers allowed at the event?

Yes! We encourage participants of all ages to join us on event day! There are more accessibility details listed on the zoo website here: https://www.zoo.org/access

Can I bring my dog(s) to the event?

For the safety of event participants/due to local regulations, only service animals will be allowed at the event. For service animals, please read the zoo’s service animal guidelines for more details before you visit.

What is the deadline for fundraising?

All donations on your behalf that are received through Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. CT will be credited to your fundraising total and will be eligible for fundraising incentives.
