10th and Final Cherry Street Challenge
First and foremost, 2017, marks my mom Karen's 20th year as a breast cancer survivor. I'm so proud of her for the courage she showed to triumph 20 years ago and am inspired by her compassion to talk with others affected by the disease, her perseverance to complete the Komen 3-day, 60-mile walk, and her dedication to assist with the raffle prizes for the CSC these past several years.
2017 also marks the 10th and final edition of the Cherry Street Challenge. When I co-founded the CSC almost a decade ago our motives were not overly altruistic, but we created something vibrant and fun that brought friends together. As its popularity continued to grow I knew I had a platform and an opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Since the conception of Drinking For Charity (TM) we've shared even more memories with friends and family, and more improtantly have raised nearly $25,000 to fight for a cure for breast cancer.
Words cannot express how unbelievably grateful myself, my mom and Susan G. Komen are for your generosity. I've never taken any of the donations and good times of the Cherry Street for granted. Just like I've never taken the Challenge itself lightly. I don't ever plan to stop admiring my mom or enjoying good beer with great people, but the time has come to bring the Cherry Street Challenge to a close. I hope you all have an opportunity to enjoy the spectre of it this one last time. It's going to be one hell of a party and one that I think will provide record-setting contributions to fund a cure.
To that end we continue to encourage your donations in the form of a pledge to any of the many individuals and teams competing in the Challenge. Personally for this 10th CSC I pledge to donate $100 for every individual who imbibes 10 of the 14 pints on draught. You can make a donation online with your credit card by clicking the button above my fundraising thermometer.
Thank you for supporting me in the Cherry Street Challenge as I participate in support of ending breast cancer forever. And a special thanks to all the referees and other family members who have assisted over the years, and of course the Cherry Street Tavern for being the most amazing of hosts.
