A birthday wish....

I have a love-hate relationship with birthdays. I look in the mirror and see someone who looks back at me with a few more wrinkles, and a little heavier thighs. I also see someone who is very lucky to be here and that’s when any self-criticism fades away and I celebrate that I am one of the lucky ones. I had breast cancer and I survived. This year is a landmark birthday and a 10-year mark for survival. I don’t take that for granted and both will be celebrated. In fact I have dedicated not only my career but my life as well, (as CEO of Susan G. Komen), to work towards finding the cures for breast cancer. My beautiful daughters and my husband are planning something special for my birthday (Shhhhh! It’s supposed to be a surprise) and at my request have asked all my amazing friends and family to forego gifts and give to Susan G. Komen. I can’t think of a more meaningful way to celebrate! If you would like to wish me the Happiest of Birthdays and support the most amazing organization, Susan G. Komen, please click on this link and donate! Your money will be used to fund research, or help women and men get the services and support they need before, during and after a breast cancer diagnosis – especially those who either can’t afford their treatment, or need help through the journey. So, please, help me help the women and men who need us! And to find the cures for breast cancer. Thank you for helping Komen help others!
