Join Us in Honoring Cameron's Grandma & my Mother, Elva Marie Blanchard
My mother, Elva Marie Blanchard, was a remarkable woman. She was independent, strong, & passionate about making the world a better place. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1993 & bravely fought, enduring surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. She continued her work as an operating room nurse throughout her grueling treatment. Five years later, she was a survivor, continuing her career, her love of running, and enjoying the company of her loving friends & family. We participated as a family in Race for the Cure for several years, and my mother participated in many other races throughout her life, well into her 70’s! Twenty-three years later, in 2016, the same cancer returned. Once again, she courageously fought, surrounded by her friends & family. She was winning her battle once again, until she developed a pneumonia which quickly developed into sepsis. She fought an amazing battle until the sepsis overcame her. She died at age 76 on Thanksgiving weekend 2017, holding the hands of myself & her beloved oldest grandson, Kyle. To honor my mother, Elva Marie Blanchard, and to celebrate her life and her extraordinary courage, we have decided to support Susan G. Komen in their fight against breast cancer.
Please help us honor my mother & Cameron's grandma, Elva Marie Blanchard, by raising funds to support Susan G. Komen so they can provide education, screening and treatment programs for women and men in our community, and support cutting-edge research so that one day we can live in a world without breast cancer.
As the world’s largest and most impactful breast cancer organization, Susan G. Komen supports more breast cancer research than any other nonprofit outside the U.S. government, while providing real-time help to those facing the disease.
Cameron has generously received support & backing for this fundraiser from the Taekwondo academy to which he belongs, Tiger-Rock Martial Arts-Lone Tree. Tiger-Rock is hosting a Women's Self Defense Workshop on November 10 at 2:00pm, which is free with a suggested donation of $10.00. 100% of donations received from the event will go to this fundraiser supporting the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Please visit their website at tigerrockacademy.com for more information or to register. Tiger-Rock is much more than a cool place to learn martial arts; it's an extremely positive, cohesive community that we are grateful to be a part of! Thank you so much Mr. Asay & Tiger-Rock Academy for your support!
You can also make a donation online with your credit card by clicking the button above our fundraising thermometer. Any amount, no matter how big or how small, makes a difference!
