GC EMBRACE - Boston Goes Pink!
Please join your GC North America colleagues in supporting breast cancer awareness by participating in our First Annual Wear Pink Day on October 18th as we work together to help women and men stay healthy.
Did You Know?
- Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women, regardless of race or ethnicity.
- Each year, it’s expected that about 2,670 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the US
- One in eight women will be diagnosed with the disease during their lifetime
- Women who get regularly screened for breast cancer have a 47% lower risk of dying from the disease compared to those who don’t
The good news is that due to better treatments, earlier screening and increased awareness, breast cancer death rates dropped from 1989 to 2007, with that number continuing to decline in women over 50 and staying steady with those under 50.
As the world’s largest and most impactful breast cancer organization, Susan G. Komen supports more breast cancer research than any other nonprofit, while providing real-time help to those facing the disease.
