Dear Signal Hill Family,
Whether you are a teacher, staff member or parent, chances are that breast cancer has affected someone close to you. For me, it has affected family members, close friends, and acquaintances far too often. It inspired me to step up to the plate to begin this fundraising mission for Susan G. Komen 17 years ago. Research has come such a long way since then, and thankfully, there seem to be many more stories of survival. But that's not enough for me. I want Komen researchers to continue to eradicate even the rarest form of breast cancer.
2020 has been and continues to be a very challenging year for everyone! The fabric of our lives as we knew it, has completely changed. We live in a world of uncertainty, hardship, and daily struggles. Our worlds have been turned upside down, quite literally! Some have lost jobs, some have tragically lost loved ones. Businesses, large & small, have been forced to shut down due to necessary restrictions to ensure our health and safety. Charities have also been impacted as less people have had funds to support their charitable organizations. However, breast cancer, or any other type of cancer, didn't stop just because we are in a pandemic. With your help, we most certainly can make an impact in the fight against breast cancer!
I invite you to help Susan G. Komen save lives and end breast cancer forever. For me, this annual fundraiser is a step towards a world without breast cancer, by raising funds to stop this disease that affects 1 in 8 women during their lifetime. As the world’s largest and most impactful breast cancer organization, Susan G. Komen funds more breast cancer research than any other nonprofit, while providing real-time help to those facing the disease.
You can make a tax-deductible donation online securely with your credit card by clicking the DONATE NOW button at the top right corner of this page, just above the fundraising thermometer.
Raising awareness of breast cancer has been another mission of mine. At Signal Hill Elementary, we show our awareness by Rockin' the PINK, and this year, teachers, staff & students in the building, as well as those of us who are teaching and learning remotely, will be ROCKIN' the PINK 2020!!! Teachers, staff, students and parents have been Rockin' the PINK for many, many years now; it's truly become a part of our SHES culture! It's an amazing sea of PINK! This year, although we have begun this fundraiser a little later than normal, we invite you to ROCK the PINK every FRIDAY, beginning Friday, October 23, 2020! We will be creating a virtual sea of PINK the SHES PINK way! We sure hope that our entire Signal Hill Elementary Family will ROCK the PINK the following Fridays:
Friday, October 23, 2020
Friday, October 30, 2020
Friday, November 6, 2020
Friday, November 13, 2020
Friday, November 20, 2020
Thank you for supporting SHES PINK as we fundraise in support of ending breast cancer forever.
Passionately thanking you,
Suzanne Ballvé aka Mrs. Madame Ballvé :)
