My mother is from a long line of breast cancer survivors. My mother lived through her bout with breast cancer as did her sister, her mother and my grandfather's sister.
On July 25th 2009, after being in remission from breast cancer for over 15 years, my mother passed away unexpectedly.
Of all the causes and foundations that my mother supported, she felt most strongly about the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Even in the months before her death, she was involved in breast cancer studies and regularly walked to support breast cancer research.
