For the 2nd consecutive year, I am joining Debbie Price's "More Than Pink" team to fundraise in support of the Susan G. Komen organization's fight against breast cancer. Debbie is a long time friend and former colleague who was diagnosed and successfully treated for breast cancer in 2017.
In addition to walking in honor of Debbie, I am walking in honor of survivors Janet Ambrose Hamm, Roberta Nickol Grimme, Tina Gumbel and Donna Nevin, as well as walking in memory of Janet's sister Meg who lost her life to breast cancer several years ago.
Towards the end of last year I had a breast cancer scare and endured a multitude of tests before finally being given a clean bill of health shortly after Christmas. It's a disease that has long scared me and while huge steps have been made towards finding cures, it still affects way too many families. I'm happy to play a small part by fundraising, and hope you will support my efforts.
Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. 75 percent of the money raised through the Walk stays in the community to fund local breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs. The remaining 25 percent supports groundbreaking breast cancer research.
