Please join Hannah and I as we celebrate our first walk together! It is thanks to early diagnosis and treatment that I have the opportunity to share this celebration with my little miracle.
Many of you know that 5 years ago I went through one of the most challenging things a person can face- CANCER. I was diagnosed with breast cancer with my first mammogram at the age of 40. Needless to say, I was shocked- no symptoms and no significant family history. But with the support of my family and friends- I BEAT BREAST CANCER!!
On Wednesday morning June 25, 2014, I got the call "YOU HAVE CANCER". They had found a 4mm, grade I, invasive ductal carcinoma. It was estrogen and progesterone receptive, HER2 negative with a proliferation rate of <15%. If I had to have cancer, these were the characteristics to have. My prognosis was good.
After surgery in July 2014, followed by radiation in August and September, I am happy to say I have remained cancer-free!
Sadly, I have many family and friends who have similar stories as me- and I know many of you do also. Join me for the walk- in honor of them and so that soon we will no longer hear any of our loved ones tell us :I have breast cancer".
Join me at the Komen Race for the Cure as part of my team "MY PINK PEEPS". I created this team because I wanted to take action and be More Than Pink™. I want to make an impact in the fight against breast cancer and need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.
Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. 75 percent of the money raised through the Race stays in the community to fund local breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs. The remaining 25 percent supports groundbreaking breast cancer research.
Together, we are fueling the best science, boldest community and biggest impact in the fight against breast cancer. And we will not stop until this disease is gone forever. That's our promise. Will you please join me in this fight by making a donation today?
