Our Story

For Lisa...and Isla.

On January 23, 2024, just five weeks after the birth of her first child, my 31-year-old daughter, Lisa, was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Her world and her family’s were turned upside down as we rode this emotional roller coaster, witnessing her attempt to take in all that is the wonderful experience of new motherhood, while navigating the fear and anxiety surrounding breast cancer.  It’s a journey that no one anticipates, and yet, she has confronted it with unwavering strength, faith, and bravery that has left me in awe.

She has tackled each chemo treatment with a determination that inspires everyone around her.  And it is with the same fierce determination that she is prepared to take on the surgery and radiation treatments that will follow in the months ahead.

It’s not just the physical aspect of her journey that amazes me, but also her emotional resilience. She has faced the fear and uncertainty that comes with a cancer diagnosis with remarkable grace.  Instead of letting it consume her, she has chosen to focus on the positives, finding joy in the little victories and moments of hope along the way…most importantly, her baby girl, Isla Louise, now four months old.  As her mom, I couldn’t be prouder of Lisa.  Her resilience serves as a beacon of strength for our entire family, reminding us all of the power of perseverance in the face of adversity.  She has taught us that even in the darkest of times, there is always light to be found.

This year, I joined the ONE Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk.  I am dedicated to Komen's ONE mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.

Your support helps us get ONE step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support.  Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s treatment assistance program, or help navigating their care journey, Komen will be there for them.

In moments like this, your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side.

Will you please join me in this fight by making a donation today?
