I am honored to have been nominated (by Talia) and selected from a group of amazing women, to be a Ford Warrior in Pink for the 2021 Race for the Cure.
When I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2013, I did not have any insurance due to a pre-existing illness. Komen stepped in and helped me negotiate my way through all the diagnostic testing - and they payed for everything.
Luckily when it was time for surgery for a Bi-lateral Mastectomy, I was able to get insurance.
I always vowed I would give back and I had for the last few years, as I built a team of amazing friends and family.
In June of 2019, I found out that the cancer had returned and this time I had to go through chemo and radiation. Luckily I had insurance so didn't need Komen for help with my bills - but they were there for me to offer emotional support.
If everyone who likes or comments on my Breast Cancer posts, donates $20 (for 2020), I would reach my goal and between us we would be helping so many people on this journey. Every penny counts and can make the difference between a woman getting to her chemo treatments or struggling to find a ride.
Thank you for your support and generosity.
