Despite the extraordinary medical care provided and her optimistic approach to Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC), our sister Rebecca Lipkin died at age 48, just 2 years after being diagnosed with this rare disease.

A cancer that strikes young women and usually evades detection until the final stage of the disease, Rebecca had few weapons to arm her against the might of IBC. The magnificent medical breakthroughs for breast cancer just weren’t enough.

We want to change that reality. That’s why the Rebecca Lipkin Fund has been created with Susan G Komen for the Cure. We will be raising IBC specific funding for one sole purpose: to eradicate the world of this devastating form of breast cancer through education, prevention and research.

An award-winning journalist, Rebecca worked for major broadcasters, traveling the world reporting on and seeking answers to the important questions of the day. When diagnosed with IBC, Rebecca devoted herself to informing others about this rare form of cancer with her characteristic intelligence and giving spirit.

Becca never ceased to amaze us in her professional brilliance and in the positive and sustaining impact she had on countless people around the world. Her family and friends were at the center of her universe. You can learn more about Rebecca at http://www.friendsofrebecca.com

Rebecca always lived life to the fullest, even when feeling so ill. It's her zest for life and love of others that has inspired us to embark on this journey to make IBC a disease of the past. By supporting this fundraising effort, you'll be contributing to such a worthy cause, one that will enable others to live their lives to the fullest.
