My Wife Jenny is a survivor of breast cancer. As you can imagine, we were shocked to find out she had cancer, especially at the age of 33. Happily, Jenny finished her treatments over a year ago and is just fine!
Through it all, Jenny endured 4 surgeries, 6 months of chemo therapy, about 3 months of radiation, countless shots, needles, and exams (without complaining much). I am so proud of how she dealt with the whole thing!
But, we didn't do it alone. Apart from great family support, a special thanks goes out to the Florida Medical Oncology office...Dr. Kawauchi, Anita, Melissa, Dawn and everyone else. And, to everyone at The Center for Radiation in Zephyrhills. These people not only treated Jenny, but became our friends!
Thanks also goes to Vernon Weatherspoon for allowing me all the time I needed from work to accompany Jenny to every appointment and treatment plus support form everyone I work with.
Relatively speaking, we had it easy. Jenny's treatments went smoothly and seemed rather routine. But, the Oncology office is an eye-opening place. You see many others not so fortunate and in a lot worse shape literally fighting for their lives. To this day, we still wonder what happened to some of the people we met.
