Recent college graduates Aaron Drendel and Jake Mullins of Batavia, Illinois, plan to canoe the entire length of the Mississippi River starting in late May of 2010. The journey will start at the headwaters of Lake Itasca in northern Minnesota, and end over 2,320 miles in the Gulf of Mexico.

We will attempt to write journal entries in our blog to update our progress as we navigate down the 4th largest river on earth.

What an honorable thing you've done to represent those suffering from such a terrible disease. Hopefully with all of your hard work, love and concern there will be a cure found soon! Thank you!

As your former 5th grade teacher, I can tell you that I'm not surprised that you are embarking on such an amazing and noble adventure. I am truly proud of you and will stay posted on this long trek. Reconnecting with you has brought back many fond memories of a wonderful class. Go, Jake (and Aaron, of course!).
